The Lucid Air GTP electric sedan leaves us in awe
Step aside all other luxury EVs—the Lucid Air GTP electric sedan is the American marque’s top-level Grand Touring Performance trim and it’s bound to turn heads. With 1,050 horsepower and 921 pound-foot of torque, this premium luxury EV, along with its premium price, is the most powerful EV that’s currently available in the States.
With its 118-kW battery pack and an EPA-estimated driving range of 446 miles, the Lucid Air GTP electric sedan stays ahead of the distance competition. Thanks to the launch control, it can also hit zero to 60 in 2.6 seconds. That said, Air GTP’s acceleration will depend on utilizing its “Smooth”, “Swift”, and “Sprint” driving modes.
In Smooth mode, the GTP’s electric motors output 754 horses and 737 lb-ft of torque. Swift mode unlocks up to 799 lb-ft of pull, providing more weight to the steering and stiffens the car’s adaptive dampers. Sprint mode is where the beast will be unleashed with 1,050 horses and 921 lb-ft of pull. Don’t be afraid to take full advantage here, as the GTP’s low center of gravity maintains its stability with barely any body roll, and the hefty steering provides a quick response.
Similar to the two-tone colorway of the Air Dream Edition, the Air GTP packs in a lot of the same interior features found in its siblings. Elegant colors, accents, textiles, and materials can be seen throughout. The door handle is encircled by a gorgeous open-pore wood with a matte aluminum frame, and the door card is trimmed in linen and suede. The intuitive 5K 34-inch floating Glass Cockpit with Lucid UX is also a beautiful display. On the outside, a new Lucid 21-inch Aero Sport wheel design is featured on the GTP.
The Lucid Air GTP electric sedan is the first production series model since the sold out Air Dream Edition, which was limited to only 520 units. The Air GTP has an MSRP of $179,000 with deliveries are already rolling out in the U.S. Those in Canada will have to wait until August to receive their new toy.
