2024 XPeng X2 Flying Car Debuts In Melbourne

TrueEV teams up for the 2024 XPeng X2 flying car

Leading the way in eVTOL transport, Chinese EV company XPeng showcased the 2024 XPeng X2 flying car in Australia. Its appearance in Melbourne became the first flying car in Australia to debut during the Melbourne Electric SUV Expo. As it entered the land down under, XPeng collaborated with regional distributor, reseller, and importer TrueEV.

Back in 2022, more than 150 people witnessed the very first global public flight of the 2022 XPeng X2 at the SkyDive Dubai event held at the Dubai World Trade Center for the GITEX Global tech show. XPeng Motors completed a 90-minute unmanned flight of their X2 over the city.

The two-passenger 2024 Xpeng X2 flying car has an enclosed cockpit for aerodynamic performance and a carbon fiber teardrop-shaped design. It is outfitted with eight propellers, two at each corner of the car. Its two driving modes allow it to reach a maximum speed of 80 mph despite its light weight.

The manual mode is self explanatory, while the autonomous mode allows for start-up, soaring, and landing with just a simple touch of a button. The aircraft can fly for approximately 35 minutes at altitudes up to 3,200 feet without emitting any pollution, according to the manufacturer.

There is a dedicated LCD panel for each passenger in the 2024 XPeng X2 flying car that displays flight information. There’s also a touchscreen tablet within the gearbox to assist riders with their flying modes and settings. The outside of the X2 is covered with varied lighting to enable safe nighttime travel for passengers without causing blind spots for other drivers.

In addition, XPeng debuted what is known as the world’s first ever flying car at the Melbourne Electric SUV Expo — the AeroHT X2 two-seater eVTOL. XPeng states that its eVTOL will “transform urban mobility with its advanced electric propulsion and autonomous flight technology.”
