The new BMW Motorrad Concept CE 02 electric bike even has a skateboard rack
Aimed at younger riders, the futuristic BMW Motorrad Concept CE 02 prototype has been unveiled by the German automaker. We have an early bird look at what’s to come at next week’s International Motor Show Germany.
Those who are looking forward to the next thing in urban mobility may be interested in BMW’s new offering in their BMW Motorrad Concept CE 02 hybrid electric bike. The compact sized mini-bike has captured characteristics of both a motorcycle and a scooter. With the best of both worlds, BMW has attempted to pack their key mobile features into a quick and flashy new way to go around town without emitting any pollution.
The BMW Motorrad Concept CE 02 is built with a belt-driven electric motor that generates 15 horsepower (11 kW) with a top speed of 56 mph. No details have been released about battery size but with a range of 56 miles, it is a sufficient amount for a commute or a ride around the city.
With a minimalist design, the Concept CE 02 definitely appeals to the younger generation. The simple setup contains two disc wheels, a motor, and a front fork and handlebars. Not to mention the electric bike comes with a skateboard rack. All of this cumulates to just 264 pounds in weight.
Just this week, TVS Motor Company and BMW Motorrad announced that their long-term relationship would be extended and expanded to include the cooperative development of new platforms and future technologies, such as electric vehicles. Therefore, TVS Motor Company’s responsibilities will encompass future BMW Motorrad product design and development, as well as delivering world-class quality, supply chain management, and industrialization.
Normally, a bike like the BMW Motorrad Concept CE 02 would appear to have little chance of ever seeing the road, but it seems like the probability has risen. If you are in the market for something in between a motorcycle and an electric scooter, make sure to keep tabs on this one.
