Filippo Perini designs the Aehra electric SUV concept
Founded by former oil trader Hazim Nada, Italian automaker Aehra has unveiled their new Aehra electric SUV concept at their recent launch party in Milan. The name Aehra combines the modern Italian word used for “aerodynamic” along with the Latin word for “era”.
The self proclaimed “ultra premium” automaker has created quite an alluring first vehicle in the Aehra electric SUV concept with its “elytra” wing doors. Probably the most outstanding feature of the concept, the electronic doors open upward for easier access into the cabin, which is extremely spacious and “effortlessly accommodates four NBA-size players in complete comfort”, as claimed by the Aehra. That’s quite a statement, so we’re expecting four Danilo Gallinaris to fit in just fine.
Jokes aside, the design of the SUV concept is very aerodynamic, as the Aehra name presents, with a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.21. “Our design language is driven by the air,” says Filippo Perini. “Everything has to be functional, otherwise it’s just decoration.”
Without a front trunk, the nose of the Aehra electric SUV concept is both short and low. Wheels are measured at 23 inches at the front and 24 inches in the back. Technical specs have not been confirmed as of yet, but we are to expect two or three electric motors with 750 and 815 horsepower.
Perini also claims their SUV will provide a “gran turismo experience” with its adaptive air suspension and four-wheel-drive. “It’s a car you’d drive from A to A—what we Italians call a giro,” says Perini. “You could travel just for fun.”
This SUV is not the only project in the works at Aehra. Scheduled to reveal February 2023 is their upcoming electric sedan, which shares 70% of the parts from the SUV concept. Both vehicles are to be showcased mid-2025. Stay tuned here at Electric Whip for the latest news and all things Aehra.
