Global Debut of The Tata Avinya Electric Van

The Indian marque unveils the Tata Avinya electric van concept

As the largest EV manufacturer in the passenger vehicle segment, Tata Motors have revealed the Tata Avinya electric van, a concept EV with a laser fast charge speed unlike anything else we’ve ever seen. It’s also very sleek, and the designers at Tata Motors say that one of their priorities is to ensure that the final versions will turn out closely to the production versions as much as possible.

The Tata Avinya electric van is a crossover hatchback that combines SUV versatility with the room and comfort of a multi-purpose vehicle. It’s built upon a new electric platform that can charge about 310 miles of range in only 30 minutes. It’s honestly a relief to know that charge speeds of over 10 miles per minute are on the way.

In its minimalist design, the Avinya is constructed with sharp lines from its tail to its nose, incorporating an illuminated grille and ultra-thin headlamps. Now let’s cut straight to the elephant in the room—yes, those are suicide doors on the Avinya concept. Once opened, the elegant and simplified cabin is revealed to show a dashboard excluding an infotainment center, which is a little odd.

Apart from the dash, there are two rotating pilot seats in the front and a three-seat bench in the back. Simple and clean, but with the striking exterior of the Avinya, we find it a bit troublesome of its interior not packing the same punch.

In other developments, Tata Motors has unveiled a new logo for its electric vehicle lineup—an illuminated ‘T’ as seen on the rear of the car. As appealing as the Tata Avinya electric van seems to be, production hasn’t been confirmed but is expected to start in early 2025.
