The Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ Electric Sedan Is A Magnificent Mid-Size Luxury EV

Arriving late 2022, we expect the Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ electric sedan to sell like hotcakes

Despite not being the most powerful of its competitors, the Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ electric sedan surely stands out in its class for its workmanship and interior technology. The EQE follows in the footsteps of the German marque’s first electric vehicle, the EQS, by bringing most of its technology into a midsized package.

We welcome the Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ electric sedan with open arms. It’s MB’s latest luxury EV in what the company promises to be nine electric models worldwide. It features all of the EQ-Series hallmark features, including a one-bow cab-forward design with a striking black front fascia. Being 9 inches shorter than the EQS, the wheelbase has been reduced by 3.5 inches and maintains a conventional fixed rear window and trunk.

Its interior, although similar to the EQS, offers sufficient space in its rear seats and the panoramic roof also comes to aid in giving the mid-size electric sedan a spacious ambiance. A 12.3-inch digital display comes standard and is joined by a standard 12.8-inch central touchscreen display. For obvious reasons, tech savvy drivers would want to opt in for the optional triple-display Hyperscreen which runs the MBUX infotainment system.

The Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ electric sedan utilizes the marque’s Electric Vehicle Architecture (EVA) platform and has a 10-module battery pack with a 90.6 kWh battery. This should help provide well more than 300 miles of range—we expect it to hit closer to 400. Owners can recharge their batteries with a home Level 2 charger, which is also capable of 170kW DC rapid charging at public stations which requires about 30 minutes to restore to an 80 percent charge.

The EQE is built with an electric drivetrain (eATS) with a single Permanently Excited Synchronous Motor (PSM) on the rear axle that’s connected to a single-speed transmission. The motor produces 288 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque with a 0-60 mph benchmark of roughly 6.2 seconds and is electronically restricted to a top speed of 130 mph.

Mercedes offers four driving modes via DYNAMIC SELECT (Comfort, Sport, Eco, Individual). Although the EQE 350+ electric sedan has a 5,200+ pound curb weight, it accelerates rapidly from a standstill in a smooth and silent manner. The paddle shifters, like the rest of the EQ series, can modify the intensity of regenerative braking on the fly, improving economy and driving enjoyment. It can react even more concisely through tight corners with the optional rear-axle steering.

The Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ truly delivers the whole package while combining comfort, technology, handling, and safety. The German luxury automotive brand prolongs their history of producing superb vehicles and continues to build their reputation for establishing engineering and technological standards. We can’t wait to get our hands on this one.
