The Polestar O2 EV Concept Convertible Is An Enticing Electric Sports Car

Yes, there’s an actual drone built within the Polestar O2 EV concept convertible

Our fingers are crossed that Polestar will soon put the Polestar O2 EV concept convertible in production. There’s no doubt the Swedish automaker wouldn’t do so, as they have created such a fine EV which, judging by looks, can compete with the Porsche 911. Let’s take a peek at what this stunning retractable hardtop convertible has to offer.

Polestar now has three EVs lined up for the upcoming years—the Polestar 3 SUV later this year, the Polestar 4 crossover for 2023, and the Polestar 5 sedan for 2024. Now Polestar has released details of the Polestar O2 EV concept convertible in a perfect aluminum azure blue hue, creating an almost mirror reflection of the skies above.

Influenced by aerospace design, the Polestar O2 features aero ducts within the arches of the wheels and “aeroblade” rear lights that also function as air blades. No wings or spoilers here, the Polestar O2 EV concept convertible is surely both aesthetically and aerodynamically pleasing with its crisp, sharp lines. The company states it will be built off the same bonded aluminum as their Polestar 5 while using recycled high-grade materials previously only found on exotic cars.

The O2 utilizes a folding two-piece glass hardtop panel that stows beneath the rear deck with ample space for decently sized back seats. Its interior, made partly with recycled polyester, is very similar to the cabin of the Polestar Precept concept with its central touchscreen centered on the dash. There’s a gear selector on the steering wheel and a dial in front of the center console armrest.

One standout feature that we definitely need to emphasize on is the built-in drone located at the rear deck. In collaboration with Hoco Flow, a brand owned by Aerofugia, the O2’s “autonomous cinematic drone” seems to be the perfect addition for creators and influencers, and can be deployed with just a touch of a button. The drone will be able to capture video footage for up to speeds of 56 mph due to an automatic aerofoil that helps block wind.

The Polestar O2 EV concept convertible is simply dazzling. As the company’s first electric sports roadster, it can fill a gap in the market where electric convertibles are nowhere to be seen. Let’s hope Polestar unleashes this beast.
