The Serial 1 SWITCH/MTN is the ideal ride for the off-road
With an upgraded suspension, the Serial 1 SWITCH/MTN electric mountain bike has just been introduced. Made by Harley-Davidson’s internal e-bike development, the SWITCH/MTN comes only weeks after the company revealed their BASH/MTN e-bike.
Similar to the BASH/MTN, the Serial 1 SWITCH/MTN electric mountain bike uses similar parts and frame design as the rest of the Serial 1 e-bike line. The same 90 Nm mid-drive Brose S Mag motor and 529 Wh detachable battery, both of which are built into the bike’s frame, are utilized on the SWITCH/MTN.
The Harley-Davidson LiveWire motorbike division worked together to build the battery. The mountain bike drivetrain is made with the SRAM’s SX Eagle series and has a 12-speed gear system and a single-click trigger shifter that’s designed specifically for e-bikes for quick gear shifts.
With Suntour’s top-tier ZERON35BOOST AIR fully adjustable suspension fork, Michelin E-Wild knobby tires, and a TranzX dropper seat post to modify seat height, the SWITCH/MTN electric mountain bike offers some great new features. Also included are high-end TRP Slate T4 hydraulic disc brakes with four pistons, which are made especially for eMTBs. These almost eliminate the possibility of brake fade while on steep downhills sectors due to the clamp down on massive 203 mm, 2.3 mm thick rotors.
BAF (Bright As F***) headlamps made by Serial 1 and high-visibility RAT (Rearward Awareness Technology) tail and brake lights are integrated directly into the frame. Another great feature is that the SWITCH/MTN can be managed through an app in collaboration with Google Cloud. The bike also includes a 10W USB-C charging connector on the handlebars for phone charging.
In an article published by Electrek, the SWITCH/MTN is labeled as being very off-road capable with meticulous attention to the finer details. The eMTB has high-level performance and is just as accessible and accommodating for beginner riders. Pricing for the Serial 1 SWITCH/MTN starts at $4,499 and is available in four sizes at Harley-Davidson and LiveWire dealerships.
