Dutch RV specialist Tonke has unveiled their Tonke EQV electric camper van
Built on the Mercedes EQV, the Tonke EQV electric camper van has refined the German marque’s luxury camper. Three years after its debut, the original EQV has laid the groundwork for a new electric camper van series from the Dutch RV outfit, Tonke.
The Tonke EQV electric camper van will be available in two models—Touring and Adventure. According to New Atlas, the Touring variant will have a two-person bench seat that converts to a 80 x 45 inch double bed, as well as a kitchenette with a two-place induction cooktop, sink, and a 36-liter electric fridge. The kitchenette can also swivel and slide out of the driver-side sliding door for extra room.
Another feature of the kitchen block is that its interior facing panels swing up to serve as a table between the swivel front seats and the rear bench. The dining table doubles as a useful work surface outside, complementing the main kitchen block.
In addition to all the bells and whistles included in the Mercedes EQV, such as the 10.3 inch MBUX infotainment center with voice control, Burmester surround sound, and driver-assistance suite, the Tonke EQV electric camper van is equipped with an optional pop-up roof that extends the camper’s sleeping capacity by two with a 77 x 43 inch double bed.
As for the Adventure model, Tonke replaced the two-person bench with a three-seater that can convert to a 80 x 57 inch bed. Sold separately are two extra seats that could accommodate the van’s capacity up to seven passengers. Although the Adventure variant won’t have a kitchen, there’s an optional tailgate kitchen with a gas dual-burner stove, sink with collapsible basin, foldable worktop, and a 14 liter electric fridge.
On both models, Tonke has added a separate 100-Ah lithium battery to the already included 90 kW traction battery. The 100-Ah lithium battery will work in tandem with a 3,000-W inverter to provide AC power to the 230-volt outlets. The EQV Adventure starts at $73,000 while the EQV Touring starts at $97,000. Both configurations are now available to order through Tonke’s website.
