Volkswagen ID Buzz Electric Microbus Will Debut In March

The 2024 Volkswagen ID Buzz electric microbus is set to reveal on March 9

Volkwagen plans to showcase their 2024 Volkswagen ID Buzz electric microbus, an all-electric rebirth of their VW Type 2 (Transporter, Kombi, Microbus) light commercial vehicle, in just a couple months. Volkswagen first revealed their Volkswagen ID Buzz concept two years ago but has announced its worldwide debut for March 9.

The 2024 Volkswagen ID Buzz electric microbus is inspired by, you guessed-it, the classic and iconic Volkswagen Bus (Type 2 Microbus). Introduced in the 1950s, the VW Bus was popular back in the day and even has a modern day cult following. This time around the Volkswagen ID.Buzz will be built on VW’s Modular Electric Drive (MEB) platform, the same one currently used on VW’s ID.4 electric crossover.

Scott Keogh, head of Volkswagen’s North American operations considered the Volkswagen ID Buzz electric microbus as one of “the most anticipated and most hyped” models from the German automaker since the company debuted their VW Beetle in the 1990s. We would agree, maybe even more so since the electric microbus is more practical than a coupe.

Keogh also stated that the 2024 Volkswagen ID Buzz will launch in the United States in a three-row version, whereas in Europe the electric microbus will launch in a two-row version. There is a driving range expectancy of about 300 miles with both single and dual-motor configurations in either rear or all-wheel drive. Pricing is expected to start at around $40,000 to make it competitive in its class in the EV market.

With the fully electric drivetrain and Level 4 self-driving technology, as well as other modern features that mesh well with the iconic style, the Volkswagen ID Buzz electric microbus is set to become a warm-welcomed retro throwback hit. We’re excited to experience the future nostalgia of VW’s new offering.
