In collaboration with boat maker Tyde, the BMW Icon yacht made its debut at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. The 43-foot-long Icon is advertised as “the first battery-powered marine craft of its kind\u201d, and can sail up to 30 knots without emitting any pollutants.<\/p>\n
The emissions-free BMW Icon yacht is equipped with two 100kW electric motors and six BMW i3 batteries. It can sail approximately 50 nautical miles without producing any pollutants. It also features a similar setup to a hydrofoil and can reach up to 30 knots.<\/p>\n
Created by the German luxury marque\u2019s Designworks studio, the Icon has a flat hull and a thin, origami-style superstructure. In order to further the futuristic look, LEDs are installed throughout the bow and stern, and large glass panels will give mariners unobstructed views.<\/p>\n
