German marque BMW and boatmaker Tyde have collaborated on the BMW Open electric yacht, the successor to the one they debuted at the 76th Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. The new Open is six feet longer than its predecessor and is claimed to be the largest luxury electric foiling yacht on the market.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the Icon<\/i>, we have shown how elegant and luxurious sustainable mobility on the water can be,\u201d said Christoph Ballin, the co-founder and managing director of Tyde. \u201cThe continuation of the cooperation with BMW is now fueling the launch into another segment.\u201d<\/p>\n
The BMW Open electric yacht will feature foils, two 100 kW electric motors, and a 400 kWh battery, just like the professional model. The stated top speed is thirty knots, and the stated cruise speed is twenty five miles per hour. To power the batteries, solar panels are mounted on the roof.<\/p>\n
