Go Off The Grid With The AC Future ETH Electric RV

The Pininfarina designed AC Future ETH electric RV is a luxurious camper

Silicon Valley start-up AC Future has just newly introduced their AC Future ETH electric RV that’s developed in collaboration with Italian design house Pininfarina. Standing for “electric transformer house”, the ETH is a fully expandable camper that really sets itself apart from most in its class.

The AC Future ETH electric RV, which was revealed at this year’s CES, aims to be more than just a standard recreational vehicle. It may serve as a residence, an off-grid getaway, or even an office. Standing at 20 feet long, the box design of the ETH allows for a roomy interior. With a press of a button, the RV’s side and rear walls will extend outwards to form a two-bedroom apartment containing 400 square feet of space.

There is an open lounge and sleeping area on the passenger side and a dedicated bedroom at the rear. When the RV expands, the furniture is meant to slide out into its proper location, nesting and collapsing back again when the modules retract into driving mode.

The expansion makes the area feel like an apartment with a separate dining area, office, kitchen, and dry bathroom. The diner, kitchen, and driver’s side bedroom have large windows that resemble widescreens thanks to the van’s large wraparound glasshouse. To further enhance the panoramic area, the walls of the expansion module incorporate a combination of full-height opaque and transparent panels.

A number of solar panels cover the roof, extending from the van to the expansion modules. These panels supply the battery bank with energy that may be used for onboard amenities and electric motor travel. According to Pininfarina, the model is intended to provide power autonomy for an entire week.

One of our favorite features on the AC Future ETH electric RV is the roof-integrated atmospheric water generator. It’s a more compact version of the Watergen that continually extracts water from moisture and produces up to 513 gallons of pure drinking water each day. Owners can keep the vehicle parked for days at a time without having to refill the fresh water tank or recharge the battery.

When parked, the low dashboard doubles as an office desk. The steering wheel moves downward to create an open work space. The driver’s or passenger’s position can also be indicated by the central infotainment screen. Starlink satellite internet is included to keep everyone connected.

AC Future expects to launch their first prototype Q2 this year, with a production launch towards the end of 2025. Take a closer look at the AC Future ETH Electric RV below.
