The new Rivian R3X electric SUV was just revealed this week
The unveiling of the sleek, brand-new Rivian R3X electric SUV (and its R3 variant) comes just weeks following the debut of the American marque’s mid-size R2, and no we’re not complaining…we’re praising. Built upon the same platform as the R2, the R3X’s wheelbase is five inches shorter, making it the company’s smallest model.
We’re super excited for the Rivian R3X electric SUV, and we’d like to call it the “short-king of EVs”. You heard it here first! This vehicle stands out amongst its competitors with a beautiful stance, an elegant rear “flipper glass” hatch, and a large glass roof. Its interior features a digital gauge cluster behind the wheel, a touchscreen infotainment system at the center of the dash, and two glove departments.
The R3 and R3X will come in two battery sizes, and both models will pack in 300 miles of range and a zero-to-sixty in just three seconds. They will also feature the same 4695 cylindrical battery cells. Rivian has stated that the R3X will have “more dynamic abilities, both on and off road.”
The company also promises a sensor suite consisting of five radars and eleven cameras, in addition to a stronger computer. Rivian also stated that the EV will have “dramatically enhanced autonomous capabilities.”
“This is the vehicle when we walk around in the studio every season you’re like oh, I want that so bad,” said founder and CEO RJ Scaringe.
Available in single-motor (RWD), dual motor (AWD) and tri-motor (AWD), the R3 the estimated base price of the Rivian R3X electric SUV is aimed at $35,000, which is a super competitive price for an EV of its class. We can’t wait till this fast, affordable, and practical EV goes into production.
