Candela And Polestar Unite For The Candela C-8 Polestar

Using the same battery as the Polestar 2, the Candela C-8 Polestar is a welcomed newcomer

The Candela C-8 Polestar is the Swedish birth child of the recent collaboration between boat manufacturer Candela and EV manufacturer Polestar in an effort to make a splash in the zero-emissions market. Based on the Candela C-8, it borrows design elements from Polestar’s four-wheeled, battery-powered lineup.

The two companies formed a partnership earlier this year in order to equip Candela’s hydrofoil electric boats with large capacity 69 kWh electric vehicle batteries from Polestar. Polestar’s interpretation of Scandinavian elegance is now being further introduced to the marine industry with the recently unveiled Candela C-8 Polestar.

“Candela’s hydrofoil technology is a paradigm shift for sustainable performance in the marine industry,” stated Polestar’s Head of Design Maximilian Missoni. “Like the first time driving an electric car, you instantly feel that this is the future when the boat takes off, and now with the special gold details that we so proudly exhibit on our cars.”

A lighter shade of gray for the interior complements the exterior’s new solid gray to provide a sleek, unified appearance for the boat. The use of the same marine-certified upholstery cloth is all across the seats, pillows, loungers, and panels as it enhances the look.

The boat’s hydrofoils are painted with an eye-catching Swedish gold paint used on Polestar’s automobiles. According to Candela, the golden wings lift the hull above the water at high speeds to consume up to 80 percent less energy than conventional motorboats. Even in turbulent conditions, the computer-stabilized foils adjust in real-time to guarantee a smooth, level flight.

The Candela C-8 Polestar holds a range of 57 nautical miles when cruising at a speed of 22 knots. With its 75 kW electric motor, the C-8 can propel itself at full throttle to 30 knots.

Starting at $450,000, the Polestar edition of the C-8 will be built at Candela’s yard in Stockholm, with deliveries expected in June 2024.
