The Lucid Air Dream Edition Electric Luxury Sedan Is At The Top Of Its Class

Lucid Air Dream Edition sets the standard for future electric luxury sedans

The Lucid Air Dream Edition is as striking in its design as its performance. Toward the end of 2021, Lucid Motors put their debut Air sedan model into full series production following the reveal of their first prototype five years prior. Fast forward to the present day, Lucid has lived up to their claims in terms of luxury, quality, range, and performance.

At the top trim level of the Air series, the Lucid Air Dream Edition electric luxury sedan comes in two models, the Dream Edition Range and the Dream Edition Performance. The Dream Edition Range has 933 horsepower and an industry-leading range of 520 miles. The Dream Edition Performance boasts 1,111 horsepower and a range of 471 miles. Three drive modes are available—Smooth, Swift, and Sprint. Unlocking the car’s full potential, Sprint mode unleashes full power while the motors are limited to 784 horses on the Smooth and Swift modes.

A total of 520 units combined from both trims will be built and have already sold out. The American electric vehicle company has claimed that a higher percent of customers have ordered the Dream Edition Performance. That would be our choice as well, as it reaches 0-60 in 2.5 compared to the 2.7 from the Dream Edition Range. With the addition of 1,025 pound-feet of torque, the Lucid Air Dream Edition has great acceleration at any speed.

Lucid Motors have packed in a compact electric motor at both axles of the Lucid Air Dream Edition electric luxury sedan that’s powered by a 118 kWh battery system. Lucid states the battery can recharge from 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes using a 300-kW DC fast charger, providing 300 miles of range. It truly represents the brand’s technological competence, achieved through the development of battery packs for Formula E.

Beautiful both inside and out, everything about Lucid’s electric luxury sedan is well designed with elegant colors, accents, and textiles. Exclusive to the Dream Edition, the trim is polished in a platinum finish with a titanium C-pillar flag while the roof contains a full glass canopy. Rear-seat passengers even have built-in massage functions, now that’s a luxury. The 34-inch onboard dash consists of a 5k touchscreen infotainment display with a control panel and a central gauge cluster, and a 21-speaker sound system is included amongst other amenities.

With a starting price of $169,000, the Air Dream Edition is surely expensive but its 520-mile range, fast charge, and high-end design makes it a clear top choice in the luxury EV market.
