Limited-Edition Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis Is Inspired By Astrology

Take a glance at the solar eclipse inspired Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis

It’s not common for a car to feature elements of a solar eclipse, but that’s what we have here in the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis that was just revealed. Based on the Ghost Black Badge, the car features a layer of paint called Lyrical Copper to evoke a solar eclipse. The paint color’s iridescent appearance is created by the copper pigment when exposed to direct light.

The side pinstripe, brake calipers, and grille inserts on the Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis are all painted in an orange Mandarin color, in which Rolls-Royce details it as “recalling the intense pulses of sunlight witnessed as the eclipse progresses. A delicate, hand-painted Mandarin coachline also runs along the Ghost’s shoulder line, with a dotted motif meant to represent the transition from sunlight to darkness.”

The Starlight headliner, a feature of Rolls-Royce that imitates the night sky with hundreds of small lights installed in the ceiling, is featured in the interior. With its unique setup, the Ékleipsis features an animation that starts when the engine is started and the doors close. The animation shows 192 other LEDs acting as the stars that suddenly become visible during the daytime when a total eclipse occurs, and a circle of 940 “stars” representing the corona of light that peeks around the moon during the eclipse. All of the LED stars light up at the end of the almost eight minute animation, which is the longest a total solar eclipse can last. Now that’s attention to detail.

The Black Badge Ghost’s engine and other components have not been altered, despite the exterior and interior receiving extra attention. The 6.75-liter V-12 with dual turbochargers is quite intimidating. With a top speed of 155 mph and 591 horsepower and 664 ft lbs of torque, the mill can accelerate from zero to sixty miles per hour in 4.2 seconds when mated to an eight-speed automated transmission.

Although pricing has not been confirmed, we expect around $420,000 for the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis.
