The 80 Sunreef Power Eco electric catamaran was just sold by Y.CO on Wednesday
Due for delivery in 2025, the 80 Sunreef Power Eco electric catamaran has been confirmed to be made specifically for clients to ensure exceptional energy efficiency and zero carbon emissions..
“The climate impact of large power yachts is significant,” stated the future owner in a recent interview with Sunreef. “We have taken extensive steps to impact the climate crises, therefore we could only consider a power yacht if it would incorporate technologies that are rapidly scaling in other sectors such as solar energy and electric vehicles.”
The yard’s proprietary solar skin system will be present on the 80 Sunreef Power Eco electric catamaran. To produce up to 36kWp of clean energy to run the electric engines and onboard amenities, 2,152 square feet of solar panels will be built into the hull sides, superstructure, and bimini.
The cat will also be furnished with a cutting-edge battery bank that is 30% lighter than the market’s norm. The vessel is therefore more efficient when compared to its rivals. According to Sunreef, it will essentially hold “an infinite range” and can be equipped with a kite to improve its max speed.
All of the materials onboard will be ethically and environmentally sourced. The cat features a DC-powered air-conditioning system, along with a water purification system to provide drinking water. The owner claims that frequent on-site visits to the yard allowed them to make quick and simple design choices regarding the layout, decor, and furniture.
“The Caribbean, in particular, is mostly a frontier for us, and will offer a wonderful escape from the cold northern winters,” the owner added.
