The Gateway Bronco shines new light on custom electric Broncos
Ever wanted your own custom electric Bronco? Well Gateway Bronco has your back, and you can place an order to get one built out in just six months. The Illinois-based company has been restoring the classic American SUV since the mid-2000s and is now set to build out EV restomod versions of the legendary 4×4.
Equipped in each of the custom electric Broncos is a battery-powered crate motor. According to Gateway Bronco, the electric motor is attached to a five-speed manual transmission that distributes power to all four wheels and provides an amazing 400 horsepower and 800 ft lbs of instantly accessible torque.
With this, you can launch from zero to 60 mph in under six seconds, which is astounding for a vintage Bronco. Thanks to its lithium ion battery pack, the highest trim of the custom electric Bronco EV restomod can achieve 300 miles on just a single charge.
The Luxe GT EV, Gateway’s first custom electric Bronco, offers more than just a new motor. It’s built with a JRi suspension and an electric ride control package with three settings: Firm, Sport and Luxury. Other features include a power retractable step, Wilwood brakes, and 18-inch wheels on 33-inch Toyos.
The open-top Luxe GT EV is a 1972 model with a seafoam green and white paint scheme with a red line dividing the two hues. A four-point roll bar and projector LED headlights are also included. Inside the Luxe GT EV is a three-spoke vintage steering wheel, a custom dash with new gauges and a touchscreen display, and heated black leather seats with houndstooth inlays. Air-conditioning, Apple CarPlay compatibility, and a rearview mirror camera are among the many modern features found on this EV restomod.
